No more?
Today will go down in the annals of history as a very important win for American freedom fighters. For the first time since John McCain tried to give amnesty to millions of illegal aliens, the people of this country have stood up and demanded that their voices were heard concerning the unconstitutional proposal to bail out the Banking Robber Barons after they spent years making unwise business decisions. Though this fight is not yet over, Americans should be proud for having stood up to the behemoth and winning round one.
I’m certain that I was not alone last week when I feared that few people would step up to the plate and fight against this proposal. Visiting many different blogs over the past week, I saw too many comments insisting that writing or calling their representatives would make no difference. I have never before been so pleased to say that I was wrong. The spirit of America still lives, and it gives me great hope that we can do much more than simply win one battle. Let this win be proof that peaceful, grassroots action DOES work. Take courage in the knowledge that not one of us is fighting alone.

Why He weeps
Last night I was reading through the local letters to the editor when I stumbled upon a post where a young lady was asking why our presidential wanna-be’s couldn’t refrain from mud slinging instead of sticking to the issues. One astute observer wrote; “When you get right down to it, the democrats and republicans have the same agenda concerning the important issues of this country. The only way to differentiate the two is to sling the mud on wedge issues. If that didn’t exist, you’d be voting for the same candidate no matter which political box you checked.”
Then, this morning I awoke and while scanning the most recent posts on my Google Reader I came across an article at the LRC Blog entitled “A New Low for Conservative Christians”, by Laurence Vance (read his archives here), which started me thinking (a dangerous pastime, I know).
To be honest, coming up with the outline of this post didn’t take long; these thoughts have been circulating in my mind for some time, and I came to the firm conviction that the church bequeathed to us by our immediate forefathers, more specifically, the church of 1900’s, must die.

But my buddy Todd the banker and I just couldn’t help but laugh the other day as we split a pitcher of Bombay martinis and watched the sun set over the fairway from his spread in Summerlin.

Yeah, it's Really Like That
I realize that global warming is one of those very sacred cows. And let me say at the outset of this post, I believe in good stewardship of our planet, as it makes no sense to destroy our environment; that precious jewel that I want to pass on to my children better than I found it.
I am cognizant of this responsibility, and have been all of my life. When I am at home and I am out with my children hiking or fly-fishing, we routinely pick up trash left behind by others; I am not insensitive to the issue. We don’t dump oil, we don’t litter, we recycle, and on and on.
After all, I grew up as a good boy scout who was of a firm belief in “Leave only footprints, take only memories (or photos), kill only time, and always leave a place better than you found it.” A nice creed, I still live by that. My scouting leadership not only preached it, they lived it. Their living out their beliefs motivated me to follow their example, and I teach the same beliefs to my children. Therein lies the rub, personal responsibility vs. compliance by way of government coercion.

Major Schiff?
Peter Schiff is a heck of a man; he tells it like it is, and he keeps his cool in the face of moronic and childish insults. It is enough to make a lesser man lose his cool.
I watch the video and just want to kick the snot out of these fools, I know that’s not cultured, but I am beginning to wonder if I care any more. With fools like this giving advice, and people listening to it… well, we get the government and results we ask for.
If you have seen the movie Major Payne, you will understand the relationship between the title and the jokers in the video below.

My bracelet is better than yours
Tonight Americans were treated to the first round of Presidential Debates with Barack Obama in one corner, and John McCain in the other. Blatantly missing from the ring was a candidate, ANY candidate, with a REAL difference of opinion. Perhaps the most spirited part of the debate came when the candidates argued over bracelets. Each of them have received bracelets from the mother’s of fallen soldiers in Iraq. Each of them claims to have received a different message from the mothers, and each of them swears that they will form their policy on the Iraq war based in part on what those mothers said.

The Campaign for Liberty has developed a simple one page handout that can be distributed door-to-door or easily handed out to anyone you come across. This handout sums up the current situation, gives a four-step solution to getting our country out of this mess, and includes contact information for people to reach their representatives and senators. It’s designed to get as much information in the hands of as many people as possible as fast as possible.

The key with the first handout (which we know had an awful lot of info for a one-page handout) is that it exists to get information out there – even if that means just using it as a resource for discussing the topic with other people.

3 Pointing Back
Now that the finger pointing has begun, let us not forget the important lesson that our mothers taught us… “When you point your finger, remember that you have three pointing back at you.” Or, allow me to paraphrase Jesus’ words, “Before you go plucking that little wood sliver out of your brother’s eye, take the log out of your own.”
A physician will tell you that you must correctly identifying a disease, if you want your patient to get better. You can treat the symptoms, and the patient may feel better… but he will not, indeed, he can not, achieve a full recovery or go into remission by treating the symptoms of the disease alone. By treating only the symptoms, your patient will only get sicker and eventually die. As any good physician will tell you, you have to attack the root of the disease, you have to treat the disease itself, and then the symptoms will naturally be alleviated.
Let us clearly state on this blog who is to blame for our current economic disease (you may feel a little discomfort here): it is us, the citizens of this nation.
Why? Because while there are powerful interest groups who have been behind this, along with at least 545 co-conspirators, the 501-(c)(3) churches, with the MSM covering their tracks, and while this problem does indeed go back to the founding of the Republic, we did not stick our necks into the snare and trip it until 1913.

The well known theme of Barack OBama’s campaign is “change”. He says he wants to change the course of America by reforming health care, ensuring an energy policy that will remove our need for foreign resources, improve America’s reputation around the world, and he wants to help the less fortunate around the globe. Most of what he has said is no different than what we have heard in every election cycle, by candidates on both sides of the aisle. When Barack refers to the economy, he assures us that he KNOWS what the working class goes through on a daily basis, but he doesn’t offer any viable solutions to our problems. His idea of a solution is to add higher taxes on those who provide the jobs, and somehow, he believes that this will not affect the working men and women. Never mind the fact that when business owners have to pay higher taxes, they have to make cuts elsewhere, usually in the amount of pay they give to their employees or in the number of employees they can hire. This necessarily harms the working class of America, but let’s forget about that little detail.
