The Battle of the Conventions

Who will save us?

Who will save us?

Americans have been treated to 3 very different political conventions over the past 2 weeks. The first was the Democratic, A.K.A. “You are your brother’s keeper” convention. At this convention we learned some very important lessons. The first, of course, is that the Republicans have destroyed our country. The second is that Obama is THE ONE we have all been waiting for. We learned that we have the power to end world poverty, the ability to make health care affordable for all, and with the selection of carefully placed Democrats for office, we can solve Global Warming, the “energy crisis”, the unfair rich verses poor epidemic, and civil rights will finally be realized for all.

Next we had the Republican, A.K.A. “John McCain is a war hero and nothing else he has done matters” convention. Here we learned that Democrats have destroyed our country. We also learned that it is immaterial if we do not care much for McCain, as he chose Sara Palin, a young, FEMALE, maverick with conservative roots, as his running mate. Together they will follow the terrorists wherever they may go, prevent the Democrats from further destroying our country, cut out those nasty earmarks that actually return a MINUTE amount of taxpayer money back into their districts, and they will celebrate John McCain’s war hero status for as long as the electorate is willing to put up with it.

The real convention, that was made up of patriotic Americans fighting for the freedom of all, took place in Minnesota, but it was not either of the two aforementioned conventions. The real convention was held by Ron Paul’s Campaign For Liberty. Over the course of 3 days, running concurrently with the GOP convention, freedom lovers gathered to learn about our political system, the truth of what ails us, and the strategies necessary to return our country to it’s Constitutional roots. The excitement was palpable at every event, whether it was the classroom setting where 600 people gathered to learn strategy, or standing in the crowd of 13,000 people to hear Dr. Paul speak.

Those who gathered came from far and near, all different backgrounds, shapes and sizes. Here, the beatnik stood next to a man in a business suit, the heavily pierced surfer next to a young mother with her children. There were tattooed bikers, Sunday school teachers, musicians, soldiers, Olympians, and others from all walks of life. By their looks they had nothing in common, but they are all bound by one common theme, liberty for all.

These educated patriots understand the precarious situation our country is in today. They wasted no time rooting on a political party interested only in winning a horse race; their goal is to save our country. They understand that both the Democrats AND the Republicans are destroying our country, and their goal is to educate the rest of the populace so that they may see the truth. Their desire is to be left alone to live their lives as they see fit, free to educate their children, enjoy the fruits of their labor, make mistakes and learn from them, and determine their own futures, without the interference of the almighty state.

Those running this convention made no promises that the Constitution would not permit. They did not attempt to convince their constituents that there will ever be such a thing as “free” health care. In the words of Dr. Paul, “If you think health care is expensive now, just wait until it’s free!” The speakers at this convention reminded the people that the Constitution was written NOT to restrain the people, but the government.

The Campaign For Liberty makes no empty and expensive promises. They do not promise to take care of you from cradle to grave. They do not promise to solve all of your problems. They do not promise to clean up your messes. They do not speak of noble causes they must solve while their hands are in your wallet. They work for the “change” that really needs to come to America, and that is a return to the Constitution and freedom from an oppressive government.

Standing in the arena, shoulder to shoulder with thousands of others, it was clear who won the battle of the conventions.
