Biting the hand that feeds him?

Yesterday was an historic day in American politics. Representative Ron Paul (rep.) of Texas held a press conference, joined by 3 candidates for President, imploring the American public to vote outside of the current 2 party system. Chuck Baldwin (Constitution Party), Ralph Nader (Independent), and Cynthia Mckinney (Green Party), came together on the same stage, all in support of Dr. Paul’s message.
Many people were shocked that such an eclectic group would gather on the same stage in support of a common theme. Admittedly, each of these 3 different parties represents VERY different ideals. Common ground was found, however, on 4 different points. They are, foreign policy, privacy, the national debt, and the Federal Reserve. You can view the details at the Campaign For Liberty website (campaignforliberty.com).
Some would accuse Rep. Paul of biting the hand that feeds him, after all, he was encouraging the voting public to vote against the very party that he is a part of. Those more thoughtful, however, understand that the hand that feeds our elected officials belongs to the PEOPLE and not a party, and of course, he was encouraging Democrats to vote against THEIR candidate as well. Rep. Paul has worked tirelessly for 30 years within the Republican Party, attempting to bring the party back to it’s roots. While it is still his goal to stop his party from spiraling out of control into a socialistic, liberty grabbing, tax and spend monster, it has become clear that unless the people express their anger over their merging with the Democrats through the power of their vote, the party will never return to it’s roots.
Rep. Paul earned a very large following over the 30 years he has been in politics, but never so large as has materialized since he made his bid for the Republican nomination for President last year. Rep. Paul, as well as his supporters, most of them Republicans themselves, have received a very clear message from the old guard that runs the GOP today…. True Constitutionalists are no longer welcome in the Grand Old Party.
Unless and until the 2 leading parties are willing to listen to the people who elect them, obey the law of the land, respect our rights, and act as the servants they were elected to be, then they MUST fear the loss of their jobs through our voting for the smaller parties who are more apt to answer TO us and not FOR us.
Dr. Paul’s supporters have now received marching orders for more than one front in this battle. Those orders include working within the GOP, as well as actively pursuing other Americans who are fed up with our political system today, and encouraging them to use their most powerful tool, that being, their vote. It is not enough to ask nicely, or make your concerns known to your representatives anymore, though that is still necessary. Our elected officials will only get the message when they fear the loss of their jobs. A third party may stand no chance in winning the Presidential election this year, but if enough disenfranchised Americans vote for ANYONE BUT the top 2 candidates, it will send a message that they can’t ignore.
This general election I encourage all Americans to send a message that will leave the republicrats fearing for their jobs. Vote for the candidate that best represents your views, NOT the party who is supposed to! It is time to call a spade a spade. The Republicrats are not representing we the people, they represent only their own selfish desires. Vote for peace, vote for sanity, vote for freedom. Vote third party!
