The Nay’s Have It!

No more

No more?

Today will go down in the annals of history as a very important win for American freedom fighters. For the first time since John McCain tried to give amnesty to millions of illegal aliens, the people of this country have stood up and demanded that their voices were heard concerning the unconstitutional proposal to bail out the Banking Robber Barons after they spent years making unwise business decisions. Though this fight is not yet over, Americans should be proud for having stood up to the behemoth and winning round one.

I’m certain that I was not alone last week when I feared that few people would step up to the plate and fight against this proposal. Visiting many different blogs over the past week, I saw too many comments insisting that writing or calling their representatives would make no difference. I have never before been so pleased to say that I was wrong. The spirit of America still lives, and it gives me great hope that we can do much more than simply win one battle. Let this win be proof that peaceful, grassroots action DOES work. Take courage in the knowledge that not one of us is fighting alone.

At the same time, DO NOT let up. This war is not over. The Senate will still vote on Wednesday, and the House Plutocracy is AS I TYPE twisting the arms of those who voted against the bailout to compromise their position in a near-future vote on this issue. For those of you lucky enough to have Representatives that voted against this bill, call or write them and tell them thank-you. Make certain they understand that even a revised bailout is not acceptable to you. Write and call your Senators, and keep your eyes open to the reality that they will still try to sneak this past us.

I must take a brief moment to speak about my own Representative, Mr. Phil Hare of the Illinois 17th district, as I promised him that I would blog about his betrayal of his constituents if he voted for this debacle, and I never break my promises. Mr. Phil Hare needs to lose his seat in the House. He joined with 206 traitors, and violated his oath of office. In the days leading to this historic vote, Mr. Hare disabled the feature on his website that allowed his constituents to email him. Even after the voting was complete, Mr Hare’s staff claimed they did not know how he had voted. I vowed that I would ensure that his constituents were made aware of his position, and that is precisely what I intend to do. I suggest that all of you who have traitorous representatives such as mine join me in finding creative ways to ensure they are voted out of office, and left with the option of which fast food drive-up window they want to work at.

Take courage in the knowledge that we are a force to be reckoned with. We have proven that we can defeat bad legislation, and scare the establishment into submission. Our representatives care very deeply about their paychecks, and when faced with a legion of angry activists that will work to boot them from their cushy jobs, they will relent. Do not back down. Pat yourselves on the back, but be ever watchful and keep the pressure on.
