The Plumber and the Marxist
Posted by heatherdaniels on October 14, 2008
Democratic Presidential candidate, Barack Obama, confirmed to voters over the weekend that he believes in a complete overhaul of our free and Constitutional governance by taking from those that HAVE and giving it to those who HAVE NOT.
While in Ohio over the past several days, candidate Obama was approached by a hard working man who is a plumber by trade. “Your new tax plan is going to tax me more, isn’t it?” the plumber asked, complaining that he was being taxed “more and more for fulfilling the American dream.” (Foxnews.com) “It’s not that I want to punish your success. I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they’ve got a chance for success too,” Obama responded. “My attitude is that if the economy’s good for folks from the bottom up, it’s gonna be good for everybody … I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.”
These words should cause all freedom-loving Americans to fear for the future of this nation. Sadly, the absence of any real reactions from the media, or the citizens of this country, seem to suggest that we don’t quite understand what his words depict. What’s even sadder is that the plumber would probably quit complaining if anyone were to explain to him that if the government didn’t tax us, he would be out of the “benefits” that he and others have come to depend on.
This country was founded on the idea that if a person worked hard, and lifted himself out of poverty or mediocrity by his own bootstraps, there would be no limit to how much he could achieve. Foreigners were drawn to our country because of the attraction to a free market economy, where nobody and nothing could stop a person from moving up in society. The only thing that would stop a person from achieving great things would be his own personal lack of ambition. In fact, many of America’s immigrants were escaping tyranny in their own countries; they were born into a specific caste, and they would die in that same caste, no matter what they tried to do to break free.
Candidate Obama’s economic ideologies are not new to the political landscape. It might surprise many to learn that he draws his vision from an ideology that got it’s name in the mid-1800’s, though, if Americans did their homework, they would recognize his roots and run from it. The media, and most Americans are attempting to avoid the ugly truth of Obama’s ideals, and that is the fact that he is a Marxist.
Central to Marxist theory is the belief that a shift must occur in the social structure, in terms of economic factors. Candidate Obama’s words about spreading the wealth around is a theory that was developed by Karl Marx, written about in his book, “The Communist Manifesto”, and is a vital component in the overthrow of Capitalism in order to attain a classless, Communist society.
There was a time in this country when the word communism, or the softer version, socialism, would cause fear, anxiety, and outright anger. As time has moved on, the idea of socialism, which leads to communism, started to gain a foothold among the populace. The reason for this shift in ideology is directly related to the acceptance of the nanny state, imparting on it’s people that the entitlement mentality is humane and righteous. The focus is never on the man who pulled himself out of poverty by his own blood, sweat and tears, only to have his wealth robbed from him at the point of a gun, rather, it is on the poor, under-privileged, underdog who just wasn’t given the right “breaks” in life.
Any thinking person realizes that the motivating factor behind EVERY business decision is the possibility of attaining wealth. Business owners do not go into business simply to create jobs and “serve” their fellow man; they go into business hoping that they will create wealth FOR THEMSELVES. Most business owners are thrilled to be successful enough to create jobs, and help their fellow man in this way, but it is the promise of their own wealth that is their motivating factor. When the possibility of becoming wealthy is taken away, the primary motivation to create businesses or technology disappears, and the economy of the country implodes.
How did we get to the point in this nation where Marxist ideals became acceptable? The truth is that we have had a slow and steady march towards Marxism ever since the implementation of the Federal Reserve, the income tax, welfare, and Social Security in the early 1900’s. Over the course of almost 100 years, some politicians have slowly converted our Republic into socialism, and they did it so slowly and methodically that the citizens did not recognize what was happening. The old analogy of boiling a frog comes to mind. They say that if you try to put a frog into boiling water, it will jump out, however; if you put a frog into a pot of cool water, and then you slowly heat it to boiling, it will not jump out.
In the same manner, our elected officials have fooled us into complacency, slowly converting our beliefs from true freedom to soft socialism, and ultimately, to Marxism. Obama is not the first culprit to advance this “cause”, far from it. His allies on BOTH sides of the aisles paved the way for him to march into power, should he win this election, with his treasonous ideas. McCain is not that much better. We have witnessed the nationalization of our insurance industries, banks and mortgages in the past several weeks, and candidate McCain is fully supportive of these advances against our Constitution.
Karl Marx, were he still alive, would be proud of the condition that America now finds herself in. We are on the precipice of losing everything that we have traditionally held dear. We recently witnessed the outrage of the citizens when the government pressed for a 750 billion dollar bailout for the banks who made poor business choices; will we witness the same outrage this November when it’s time to go to the voting booth? Will Americans look for REAL alternatives to the socialists that the twin parties have chosen for us, desiring to push us further away from freedom and closer to communism? Will we quietly and without resistance allow our freedoms to be further eroded, and possibly fully decimated by voting for the very people who are robbing us of our way of life? For now, the choice is still ours.
